Erector Spinae Block (ESP)

For whom?

- (++) Patient admitted to hospital with rib fractures and one of the following

  • Cough not effective due to pain

  • Mobilization difficult/impossible due to pain

- (+/-) Patient with refractory renal colic pain (block should be performed more caudally around T10-T11)

**Local anesthetic diffuses about 1 space higher than the injected one and almost 7 spaces lower. Therefore, the injection site must be individualized according to the location of the fractures.**
