Contraindications

Any type of loco-regional anesthesia:

  • Toxic dose of local anesthetics already reached due to other techniques performed.

  • Infection at the puncture site.

  • Allergy to local anesthetics.

Contraindication to LONG-ACTING loco-regional anesthesia:

  • Presence of trauma at risk of developing compartment syndrome .

    • Indeed, a nerve block could then mask the initial symptoms of the compartment (severe pain, paresthesia, etc.) and delay the diagnosis secondarily.

    • If you have any doubts, CONTACT YOUR ORTHOPEDIST before performing the block.
